Outside of the updated visuals, Dynasty Warriors 5 Special (known as Shin Sangoku Musou 4 Special in Japan) brings about a few updates. The game has new items, a new beginners’ difficulty setting and, with the ability to save to the hard disk, now allows for 100 save files. A few gameplay tweaks have been made, giving your warriors extra abilities. The title also features faster load times throughout and adds a couple of new modes. A Legends (side story, or gaiden) mode adds 18 new stories to the Dynasty Warriors saga. Shura mode is a set of short scenarios which you work through in succession, earning new, powerful items along the way.
Although this game has been listed with American retailers, following its Japanese announcement and release, Koei instead decided to bring Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires to America for 360; it is currently undecided whether or not DW5 Special will arrive here.
